Harper’s Story
Raleigh, NC
Almost a year ago, an extraordinary little
dog named Harper trotted her way into our
hearts, thanks to Hope Animal Rescue in North
Carolina. My twin sister fosters dogs through
Hope, and the moment she met Harper, she
knew this little pup was meant to be ours, and
she couldn’t have been more right.
Harper is a spunky 9-year-old mutt with a big
heart packed into a tiny body. We lovingly call
her our Velcro dog because she’s always glued
to our sides, whether we’re cooking, watching
TV, or simply moving from one room to another.
She’s our very first dog, but she runs this
household like she’s been in charge forever.
Gentle, loving, a little bit bossy, and completely
perfect, Harper makes life brighter and more
joyful every single day. When it’s breakfast or
dinner time, she tip-taps across the floor to
remind us. No barking required. Instead, she lets
out the softest little purr-like sounds, her unique
way of saying, “Hey, I’m ready!”
She follows me everywhere, always ready for a
belly rub or scratch, and if I don’t get the hint
fast enough, she’ll just tip herself over to make
it easier. She’s also delightfully particular about
her outdoor routine, inspecting three to five
perfect spots before doing her signature four
spins and finally taking care of business.
As a North Carolina native, Harper isn’t too fond
of Pennsylvania’s chilly winters, so she stays cozy
in her collection of little sweatshirts. Watching
her bundled up, trotting proudly on her walks,
you can’t help but smile.
Harper may be small, but she’s an extraordinary
force of love, loyalty, and personality wrapped
in fur. Our lives are richer, warmer, and infinitely
Harper happier with her in them.
