Alfie’s Story
The City of Elderly Love
Southeastern, PA
We adopted our extraordinary dog, Alfie, from
City of Elderly Love in early March, exactly a year
after we lost our sweet Marcie. It had only been
four months since her passing, and we were still
mourning her deeply. While on vacation in St.
Lucia, we saw Alfie’s photo and immediately felt
he belonged with us.
City of Elderly Love is a wonderful organization
that rescues senior pets. Alfie had been
surrendered due to his original owner’s health
issues. Although heartbroken, they wanted him
to have a happier life.
We picked him up in Philadelphia from his
amazing foster mom, Victoria. Alfie is nine years
old and completely different from Marcie. With
the cutest personality, he is very social and
full of charm. He loves people and other dogs.
When we are out walking, he often stops just to
watch someone pass by. He truly is the mayor of
our development.
It is almost comical how when you go to pet
him, he immediately flops over for a belly rub. He
spends much of his day on his back, looking up
at us upside down. We do not know much about
his previous family, but they must have been very
loving. He may have lived with other dogs, as he
is always looking for attention and affection.
Alfie never barks, follows my husband
everywhere, enjoys lounging on the lawn, and
raises his voice in the evening when he wants
one last snack. He also loves long walks.
Our amazing pet sitter, Michelle, brings her dog
Charlie to help watch Alfie. The two of them
are adorable together. Alfie chases Charlie all
around and insists on entering the house first
after walks. He also has his loving Aunt Dawn,
who helps care for him.
Alfie has brought so much joy and love into our
lives. He truly is one of a kind.
