Riggs’ Story

Washington Crossing, PA

One look at Riggs, and he won our heart! He
is the epitome of a grateful rescue. A friend
of ours actually spotted Riggs and said,
“This dog speaks to me.” We’re so thankful
to that friend, as we were immediately
smitten. Riggs was brought up from North
Carolina. When he joined our family, he was
heartworm-positive and had to undergo
grueling treatments; nevertheless, he didn’t
exhibit any resentment and remained the
kindest, sweetest fur-baby anyone could
ever hope for!
This sweet pup loves spending time with
the family as much as we love spending
time with him. Our four grandkids adore
Riggs so much, they can’t wait to visit just to
see him (we understand completely)! Riggs
is wonderfully affectionate, often curling
up on the couch with us and placing his
head in our laps. But the couch isn’t only for
cuddling—from time to time, Riggs decides
to hide socks beneath the cushions!

Other aspects of his playful side come to
light when he’s hanging out with his fur-
brother, Rocky. Hours of entertainment
come from playing chase, chewing on
toys, and, occasionally, biting Rocky’s feet
(that’s just Riggs being Riggs). Whatever the
activity, when the pups are together both
exude pure happiness.

From Day 1, Riggs’ soulful eyes spoke to us.
He’s a sweet, gentle, and happy boy with
Riggs very special qualities, and he makes our
lives richer every day. In fact, he makes our
lives whole.
