Marcie’s Story

New Jersey

We rescued Marcie from a shelter in New Jersey
nearly 14 years ago when she was a puppy. I
don’t even remember the name of the shelter,
but what matters is that we found and adopted
Marcie.
Marcie Miss Marcie, as we affectionately call her,
brought light into our home. She is the most
loving, sweet dog. She always needs to sleep

next to Mommy. She loves her belly rubs. Her
favorite part of the day is going for a walk,
where she is insistent on always taking the lead.
When she thinks it is “walk time,” she will pout
until we take her out.

She always loves going with us on vacations,
especially when she gets to run on the beach.
When she stays at home, Miss Marcie gets very
excited when her babysitters, Michelle and
Dawn, come to visit.
For the past several years, Marcie has battled
diabetes and recurrent pancreatitis. Last year,
she had cataract surgery, as she was almost
blind. After the operation, she was like a puppy
again, running around and enjoying her
renewed ability to see.

Sadly, a week after I entered Miss Marcie in this
calendar contest, her pancreatitis returned, and
she was in a lot of pain. We decided to let her
cross over the Rainbow Bridge.
Marcie had given us nearly 14 years of laughter
and happiness. As a lifelong cat family, we had
never known the joys of having a dog until we
got Marcie. We will never forget our beautiful
little girl and how she changed our lives forever.
